A Business Built on Growing

Rainbow Park Nurseries was established in 1976 in South Auckland - a region long recognised as one of New Zealand’s premier horticultural growing areas. What began as a specialist growing operation has, over nearly fifty years, developed into one of the country’s leading commercial nurseries. As a 15-hectare facility in Ramarama, we supply millions of plants annually to some of New Zealand’s most recognised retail brands.
Today, the business is led by Andy Tayler, whose direction has shaped Rainbow Park into a nationally renowned wholesale grower and supplier with genuine technical depth. From purpose-built growing infrastructure and precision climate control, to an in-house logistics fleet and specialist breeding relationships with world-class international growers.
Rainbow Park is not simply a plant supplier. Our scale, systems, and nearly five decades of experience mean we can commit to the volumes, consistency, and delivery schedules that national retail buyers and trade customers depend on. When you work with Rainbow Park, you work with a business that has built its reputation plant by plant over the long term.

50+ Years In Operation
From three hectares of heated, climate-controlled glasshouses to a ten-hectare outdoor container nursery, Rainbow Park’s growing infrastructure is purpose-built for commercial supply at volume. Every aspect of the operation - from propagation to dispatch - is designed to deliver the consistency, reliability, and quality that New Zealand’s largest retailers require.
Our growing environment is managed through Priva Environmental Computer Software - the same precision system used by leading commercial growers worldwide. Priva controls climate, irrigation, and fertigation across our glasshouse operation, ensuring consistent growing conditions, resource efficiency, and the certainty of supply our retailers depend on.
Distribution is handled by our own dedicated truck fleet, delivering nationwide from Northland to the South Island. Plants are loaded on industry-standard trolleys by trained drivers who understand how to handle living products -arriving at retail in the best possible condition on time, and on spec.

World-Class Breeders
Rainbow Park’s competitive strength starts with genetics. Our close relationships with leading international plant breeders mean we grow the latest, strongest varieties - selected for health, uniformity, and performance in New Zealand retail conditions.
We work alongside world-class breeding programmes to access varieties ahead of the broader market, giving our retail partners the advantage of new releases and proven performers that keep their ranges fresh and competitive. Our propagation expertise and precision growing systems then ensure that the genetics we source are expressed to their full potential, at scale, every time.
This preceding capability underpins our entire plant programme - from Phalaenopsis orchids and tropical houseplants through to ornamentals, specimen trees, and our edibles range - and is a key reason why Rainbow Park plants perform consistently well in New Zealand’s retail conditions.
